Formed in 2014, SHAYAN performs original music fusing jazz with a variety of genres including Iranian Folk, Hip-Hop and Funk.
Melbourne Amplified Strings (MAS) is a string duo, reinvigorating the use of traditional classical instruments by utilising effects and loop pedals in their original and improvised music.

‘Living in the Machine’ brings these two distinct groups together into one ensemble. The album traverses eight original compositions, drawing on diverse influences including jazz, classical, world and electronic music.

The band spent 2021 rehearsing recorded the album in two sessions between Melbourne lockdowns.
